Creative Grand Opening Advertising
Advertising for a grand opening is a big job that needs to cover a lot of ground in order to reach as far into the surrounding community as possible.  Some of the most common ways to do this are with the use of tools such as custom posters, banners, signs, fliers, billboards, balloons, inflatables, and other types of mobile outdoor advertising.  All these options enable the news of a new business to spread the word of who they are, what their products and services are, and where they are located as fast and as far as possible.  And the more people that know about your grand opening, the more people that will be there to help you celebrate.  The more people that are there for the festivities of the first day, the more that are likely to return and become regular customers.  Here are some reasons why these types of advertising are so critical for starting off a new business on solid footing and giving it a jump-start at being a healthy business in the months and years ahead.
  • New Business Branding

Starting a new business is expensive, and some business owners try to save money by advertising for their grand opening with printing done by the local copy shop.  And if their budget is really tight they will get fliers printed in black and white, so they don’t have to pay extra for the color ink.  There is a problem with trying to “cut corners” in this way.  It portrays your new company as being “cheap”.  If customers think a business is cheap they will wonder about the quality of the product or service you are offering and will therefore be more hesitant to make a purchase, or maybe even to come to the grand opening celebration in the first place.  Advertising is all about selling your business as being the best of the best withing its industry.  Quality paper, graphics, and ink are a good investment for the image of your quality business.
  • Be Consistent and Persistent

Who says a Grand Opening party has to only last one day?  Why not celebrate for weeks or a whole month, instead?  Doing so generates excitement and allows those who do show up on the first day to spread the word to their friends, who can then come out and see what the fuss is about on the 2nd, 3rd, or even 20th day.  A grand opening is all about introducing your new business to the community.  And a business is a complex formation of relationships, services, products, and goods.  Introducing such an intricate machine takes more than just one working business day.  Take advantage of all the hype surrounding your company’s first big day by instead advertising for its first big week or month.  Continue all the advertising already planned and put into place for as long as you can.  Then spend the extra amount of time as an excuse to build relationships and as an opportunity to show the local community the character of your new business.
